Lee Named To All-Pac-12 Team
April 20, 2016 | Women's Golf
BOULDER – Junior Esther Lee of the University of Colorado women's golf team was named to the 2016 All-Pac-12 Team for a second consecutive year, the league announced Wednesday at the conclusion of the Pac-12 Championships. She becomes the first Buff to earn the honor twice in her career as she was also named All-Pac-12 as a sophomore.
Lee, a native of Los Alamitos, Calif. leads the team with a 72.48 stroke average and has earned a team-best 10 top 20 finishes this season, tying her with Emily Talley (2008-12) for the second-most ever in a single season. Currently ranked as the No. 20th golfer in the country, Lee won her second career event this past fall at the East & West Match Play Challenge. She shot a school-record 64 in the second round of the stoke play portion, propelling the Buffaloes to a first play finish and also helped them finish second in match play.
She has registered a team-best three rounds in the 60s this season, tied for second most all-time in program history and her eight subpar rounds on the year is tied for fourth in the Colorado record book with Jenny Coleman (2010-14).
Lee has made a team-high four eagles and 81 birdies over her 27 rounds of golf this season, all of which have counted toward team scoring and is second with 316 pars.
The second-year Buff shot 216 or even-par at the Pac-12 Championships this week, finishing tied for 18th overall and helped guide the Buffaloes to their second straight fifth place team finish. Lee and the Buffs look to be in a good position to receive an invitation to the NCAA Championships, which begin with regional play May 5-7. The 72-team postseason field will be announced on the Golf Channel's NCAA Selection Show Monday, April 25 at 4 p.m. MDT.
