NCAA West Preliminary Round Suspended Thursday

May 27, 2016 | Track and Field

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Due to inclement weather and no signs of it letting up on Thursday, meet officials were forced to suspend the first day of the NCAA Track & Field West Preliminary round.

Some of the field events, including the men's hammer throw, started but weren't completed. University of Colorado senior Brady Rutt threw in the first flight and was able to finish his series with a mark of 191-10. At the time of the postponement, Rutt's mark was 26th and would not advance to NCAAs.

With the suspension of Thursday's events, the NCAA has to redo the meet schedule to fit most of Thursday's events into Friday. One of the biggest meet adjustments puts the 10,000-meter run at 8 a.m. (women) and 8:40 a.m. CT (men) on Friday.

A complete revised meet schedule will be released later Thursday night. Stay tuned to @CUBuffsTrack on Twitter for updates.
