Times, TV Announced For Three CU Football Games
June 01, 2016 | Football
BOULDER — The University of Colorado now knows its game times and television arrangements for the first two weeks of September as well as a November contest against UCLA, as the Pac-12 Conference released the information for 36 games for the upcoming 2016 football season.
Colorado's season opener against Colorado State at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver on Friday, Sept. 2, will be televised nationally by ESPN, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. MDT. It will be the 22nd straight year that the “Rocky Mountain Showdown” will be televised on an either a regional or national basis, the seventh time on the ESPN family of networks and the fourth time on ESPN. The last time was in 2003, one of the true classics between the rivals in the 87-game series: CU won a wild shootout, 42-35, that included a half-hour delay due to rain and lightning.
Tickets will go on sale on Monday, June 14 for the CSU game, and will be available at on-line at CUBuffs.com, in-person and at the athletic ticket office in CU's new Champions Center, or by phone (303-492-8337). Prices range from $35 to $110.
CU's home opener against Idaho State on Saturday, Sept. 10, will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. MDT at Folsom Field and will be televised regionally on the Pac-12 Mountain regional network. The Pac-12 networks are televising five games that day, and when everything played out, the CU-ISU game was designated for regional broadcast only.
Colorado hosts UCLA on Thursday night, Nov. 3, and that game will be broadcast nationally on FS-1 with a kickoff time of 7 p.m. MDT.
“We're pleased that we're going to receive great national exposure for both the Rocky Mountain Showdown and the UCLA games,” said athletic director Rick George. “We're also happy that our home opener against Idaho State is in the mid-afternoon, as that should be great for both our students and all our fans.”
CU's other non-conference game, Sept. 17 at Michigan, has yet to have its time or television arrangements finalized but are expected in the coming weeks. The conference also announced that FOX will televise the Dec. 2 Pac-12 Championship game from Santa Clara, Calif., with a 7 p.m. MST kickoff. All remaining games are on the selection menu of the Pac-12's television partners, ESPN-ABC, FOX Sports-FS-1 and the Pac-12 Networks, with arrangements announced usually 12 days in advance.
