BOULDER – Colorado soccer coach Danny Sanchez announced the addition of two transfers on Thursday. Emily Bruder will join the Buffaloes after three years at the University of North Carolina and Colorado native Megan Massey returns home after one season at the University of Tennessee. Both players will be eligible to compete immediately.

“Megan and Emily bring great experience to our squad,” Sanchez said. “We are excited they both will be Buffs. They have played at the highest levels of club and with various youth national teams. More importantly, their collegiate experience will help smooth their transition into our university and soccer program.”

Bruder, a 5-foot-9 forward senior from Sandy, Utah, joins CU after three seasons as a major contributor for one of the most storied soccer programs in the nation. In her three seasons in Chapel Hill, N.C., she played in 53 matches and started 12 times, scoring seven goals and adding three assists. She led the Tar Heels in goals as a sophomore in 2014 and was a third-team All-ACC selection. UNC was 49-14-3 during her three seasons with three NCAA Tournament appearances and six postseason wins.

She has competed with several United States youth national teams, competing with the U-17's and U-18's, and also being a member of the U-14 and U-20 player pools. Bruder had 16 caps with the U-18s in 2013 and scored four goals. She competed (along with current Buff Morgan Stanton) with the U-17 World Cup team, which competed in Azerbaijan in 2012 and also won the CONCACAF championship.

At Juan Diego Catholic High School, Bruder was a standout in Utah, earning first-team all-state all four years and leading the team to two state championships. She finished as her school's all-time leading scorer and also lettered in basketball one year.

Bruder competed for the Utah Avalanche club team, where incoming freshman Kennedy Yost, who signed with CU in February, also played. Bruder led the Utah Avalanche to several championships and was a 2012 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Youth All-American. She was also a four-year member of the Region IV Olympic Development Program.

Massey, is a 5-foot-8 midfielder/forward and is a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo. As a freshman at Tennessee, she played in 13 matches and averaged 23 minutes, while totaling 10 shot attempts.

At Mountain Vista High School, Massey was selected NSCAA first-team All-America, the NSCAA Colorado player of the year, and was a three-time first-team all-state selection, leading her team in goals all four seasons with a total of 75 goals in her career. She also led Mountain Vista to three Continental League championships and one state championship.

In club soccer, Massey competed for Real Colorado National 96/97 and won two state championships, while serving as the team captain, and scored 52 career goals in Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) competition. Massey was twice invited to USWNT Camps, was a two time ECNL/id2 National Training Camp invite, and was on the Region IV ODP team in 2012.

Bruder and Massey join seven incoming student-athletes who will debut with the Buffs for the 2016 season.
