Buffs Earn Pac-12 Track & Field All-Academic Honors

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Colorado track and field team placed 21 student-athletes, 11 women and 10 men, on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, the league announced on Thursday.

The women placed three on the first team. Junior Mandy Ortiz owns the best grade point average (3.97), while majoring in integrative physiology. Kaitlyn Benner and Mackenzie Caldwell, a pair of sophomores, were also picked for the team. Benner has recorded a 3.93 GPA as a chemical and biological engineering major, while Caldwell is a business major (accounting) with a 3.85 GPA.

Eight other women were listed on the honorable mention team. They are seniors Maddie Alm, Kelsey English, Sophie Hallam-Eames and Abrianna Torres, and sophomores Eryn Blakely, Erin Clark, Ana Holland and Rajon O'Quinn.

On the men's side, sophomore Adam Peterman was the lone first team selection while majoring in environmental science (3.78 GPA). Junior Joe Holvey (ecology and evolutionary biology – 3.61 GPA) and senior Morgan Pearson (economics & mathematics – 3.45 GPA) were selected for the second team.

Members of the men's honorable mention squad include senior Connor Winter, juniors Garrett Losty and Jaron Thomas, sophomores Paden Gatlin, Isaiah Kaiser and Christian Martin, and redshirt freshman Ethan Gonzales.

To be eligible for the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.00 overall grade point average and either be a starter or participate in a minimum of 50% of the schedule contests.
