DeLuzio Named Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week

BOULDER — For the third time this season, Colorado's Brynna DeLuzio is the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
The setter from Windermere, Fla., helped the Buffs to a 2-0 weekend sweep of then-No. 15 Oregon (3-2) and Oregon State (3-1), completing the season series sweep of both schools. CU hit .253 and averaged 12.78 kills per set through the two contests. DeLuzio recorded 10.44 assists per set and added 2.00 digs per set.
In the first match against the Ducks on Oct. 27, she recorded 47 assists and added nine digs, two block assists and an ace. DeLuzio also tallied three kills on three attempts to total 5.0 points. The following night against the Beavers, she guided CU to a .270 attack percentage with 47 assists. DeLuzio recorded another nine digs with three service aces and posted one block solo.
This season DeLuzio ranks second in the Pac-12 with 11.24 assists per set, which is also 22nd in the NCAA. No other Buff has ever been a repeat selection for the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honor and DeLuzio has earned it three times (Sept. 18 and Oct. 1). Her teammate, junior Naghede Abu, is the only other Buff to ever be named the league's freshman of the week and she did it once.
Colorado returns to the Coors Events Center this week for a pair of matches. The 17-6 Buffs will host Washington State on Wednesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and on Friday, Nov. 3, they will welcome the No. 11 Washington Huskies to Boulder.
