Buffs To Host NDSU For Midweek Tilt In Boulder

November 28, 2017 | Women's Basketball

BOULDER - Colorado's women's basketball is set to host North Dakota State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Coors Events Center. The game will air on CU's new radio home 630 KHOW with Cory Lopez and Carol Callan calling the action. It will also be streamed online through Pac-12 Plus.

CU NOTES
The Buffs are riding a four-game winning streak and enter the night 5-1 overall this season, suffering an overtime loss at North Carolina on Nov. 12 for their only loss of the year. Since then, CU has upset No. 24 Miami and then taken the Rocky Mountain Hoops Classic championship this past weekend.

Junior Kennedy Leonard scored her 1,000th career point on Saturday in CU's 76-61 win over George Mason in the RMHC championship game. She had a season-high 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting and eight assists in the contest. She became the 30th player in CU history to reach 1,000 career points and is tied for the fifth-fastest to reach that milestone in 69 career games.

Annika Jank has led a dramatic turnaround in the rebounding this season as CU is outrebounding its opponents by 6.7 per game, one year after getting out rebounded by 1.9 per game. Jank leads the Buffs with an 8.5 average, including a season-high 13 on Saturday against GMU. Those 13 rebounds were the most for a Colorado freshman since Arielle Roberson in 2013. Two other newcomers are second and third on the team in rebounding, respectively, with Aubrey Knight (6.5) and Janea Bunn (6.3).

SCOUTING NDSU
The Bison also enter Wednesday with a 5-1 record, splitting two games this past weekend at the Navy Classic. The lone loss came in the semifinals on Saturday to Navy, before recovering with a 67-53 win over Maryland-Baltimore County.

NDSU has four players averaging double digits in scoring, including Taylor Thunstedt (11.2), Sarah Jacobson (10.8), Rylee Nudell (10.3) and Michelle Gaislerova (10.2). The Bison are averaging 77 points per game, while giving up just 58.2. They have been strong at ball control, committing just 12 turnovers per game and having a +4.3 turnover margin per game. They also are a strong outside shooting team, making 8.8 3-point field goals per game and shooting 39.8 percent from the outside.
