November 07, 2017 | Soccer
SAN FRANCISCO – Colorado's Jalen Tompkins was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Week for the third consecutive week on Tuesday. It is the fifth goalkeeper of the week award of her career.
She is the first Pac-12 player since the conference switched to its current format in 2014 of an offensive player, defensive player and goalkeeper of the week to earn any of the three awards three consecutive weeks.
Tompkins made five saves in a 2-0 win at Utah on Friday, securing a 5-4-2 record for the Buffs in Pac-12 play this season. She made a spectacular save in the 33rd minute, diving to her left to punch away a strike from the top of the box. In the 81st minute, she made another key save, stopping a shot that was headed to the upper-left corner of the net. She also earned her first career assist on Megan Massey's goal in the 12th minute.
In the match on Friday, Tompkins broke her own school record for longest shutout streak, a time that currently sits at 498:05. It was the fifth consecutive clean sheet for the Buffs.
CU is currently 11-5-4 overall and will host the University of Denver at noon on Sunday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
