November 08, 2017 | Women's Golf

BOULDER – University of Colorado women's golf coach Anne Kelly has announced the signing of two student-athletes who will continue their education and play golf for the University of Colorado, beginning in the fall of 2018.

Malak Bouraeda and Kelsey Webster with both join the Colorado women's team in the fall of 2018.

Malak Bouraeda was the No. 1 golfer on her high school golf team at Carroll Senior High in Southlake Texas, all four years and was District Champion in March of 2017. Her biggest moment of high school was making it to State with her team as a freshman. Bouraeda is a three-time first-team All-District, earning three straight top-5 finishes at Regionals. During her junior campaign, she finished eighth overall at State. Her best career round in competition was when she carded a 68 at the District tournament at the Cimarron Country Club in Denton, Texas.

"We are very excited about adding Malak Bouraeda to our team in 2018," Kelly said. "She is an up and coming talented player that absolutely loves CU!  She is a dedicated golfer and can hit the golf ball a long way. Malak possesses a very good work ethic both academically and in golf. She has a good sense of what it takes to be a team leader and wants not only to have success as an individual golfer, but as a member of a nationally competitive team.  We are looking forward to Malak joining our team in 2018."

Malak is the daughter of Zach and Gretchen Bouradea and was born in St. Louis Missouri in 2001. She has a younger brother, Harper and a younger sister Ella and enjoys traveling, photography, speaking different languages and meeting new people.

Kelsey Webster is a two-sport letterman in two sports golf and basketball for Fairview High School in Boulder. Webster was the Frontage League champion her junior year with the lowest average score in the league of 73.1. Her stroke average her junior year or 73.1 marks the lowest stroke average in Fairview women's golf history under head coach John Zerwin. Her lowest round came at the Chilly Chili Invite during her junior campaign where she shot a 3-under 69 tying a tournament record. Webster is a two-time second-team All-State and a first-team All-State and Front Range League.

"We are thrilled to add a home town golfer to the CU women's golf program," Kelly said. "Kelsey is a fairly young golfer, but works extremely hard on her game and has shown some good results over the last few years. With a little more refining of her short game skills and some college level experience we see her being a very strong player for the CU women's golf program."

Webster enjoys music, Young Life, coaching YMCA basketball and is the daughter of Bob Webster and Katherine Ann Cantrell. She has three brothers; Avery, Connor and Braden and one sister, Chandler who attends Texas Christian University. Webster's step-father, Jeff Cantrell played football for CU from 1986-1989.
