Rajon O'Quinn took home two event titles Saturday at the Joe Davies Classic

GOLDEN COLO. — The University of Colorado junior Rajon O'Quinn won two event titles at the Joe Davies Classic here Saturday leading the way to a great day for the Buffs.

WHAT HAPPENED:Â
O'Quinn recorded a personal best mark of 5-10/1.78 in the high jump, clearing a height that was almost 10 inches higher than the second place finisher McKayla Bauer, (Northern Colorado) who recorded a 5-0.25/1.53 jump. O'Quinn also captured the 60 meter event title with a time of 7.48. This PR time moves her into fourth all-time for CU. Also in the 60 meters, was teammate Tashay Brown who finished fourth with a time of 7.87.

The Buffs dominated the women's triple jump as the duo of Sarah Hopkins and Maja Wichhart-Donzo as they went No. 1 and No. 2 in the event, respectively. Hopkins was confident right out of the gates as she hit her PR and winning jump on the first attempt at 38-4.25/11.69. Wichhart-Donzo, who finished second in the event jumped a solid distance of 37-7.75/11.47.

Duane McClurkin Jr. took home the men's high jump event title clearing a height of 6-7.75/2.03. Right behind him coming in second place was Dionne Taylor Jr. with a 6-6/1.98 mark. Davis Butte earned a PR in the event on Saturday jumping a 6-0/1.83 to finish seventh, while Giancarlo Narvarte came in sixth overall with a 6-2/1.88 mark.

The Buffs had a strong showing in the men's shot put as Aaron Haigler had a huge day placing first in the event with a PR mark of 47-8/14.53. This is only the second showing for Haigler this season as he beat his previous PR by well over a meter. Teammate Austin Swanson saw success Saturday finishing sixth, hurling a 43-9/13.33 mark to earn a PR in the event.

Abdiel Agramonte Moreno finished third overall in the 60 meters clocking a PR time of 7.01 in the finals heat. Teammate Jaysean Skrine also joined him in the finals heat finishing seventh with a time of 7.12. In the prelims of the 60 meters, Skrine put up a solid time of 6.98 to finish fourth.

In the men's 60 meter hurdles the duo of Alexander Billing and Aaron Carmichael advanced to the finals heat. In the prelim event they both clocked PR times; Billing went into finals in third place with a 8.38 time while Carmichael sat in sixth place with a time of 8.88. In the finals race, both finished in the exact same place, Billings (8.38) in third and Carmichael (8.88) in sixth. Â On the women's side, Eriana Henderson placed second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.03. Maja Wichhart-Donzo also placed fifth with a time of 9.08.

Next up, the Buffs will head to Seattle next for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track & Field Championships, Feb. 24-25, at Dempsey Indoor on the campus of the University of Washington.
