CU Earns No. 10 Seed In Pac-12 Tournament

February 26, 2017 | Women's Basketball

Play begins on Thursday at KeyArena in Seattle

SAN FRANCISCO - Colorado's women's basketball team earned the No. 10 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament and will open play on Thursday, March 2, against Washington State in the first round. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. PT at KeyArena in Seattle and it will be televised on Pac-12 Network.

The Buffaloes split two matchups this season with the Cougars, winning 70-58 in Boulder on Feb. 3 before suffering a 67-56 defeat on Saturday in Pullman, Washington, to close out the regular season. This will be the first time the two teams have met in the Pac-12 Tournament.

Colorado has been the No. 10 seed one other time, knocking off seventh-seed Utah in the first round in 2012 to reach the quarterfinals.

CU is 5-5 all-time in the Pac-12 Tournament and 3-1 in the first round. The Buffs have reached the semifinals twice, including in 2013 when they received a first-round bye as the No. 4 seed, and in 2015 when they were seeded ninth and upset No. 8 seed Southern California and No. 1 seed Oregon State in the first round and quarterfinals.
