Three Buffs Take Home Postseason Pac-12 Awards

Leonard named first-team all-Pac-12, Robinson and Smith both earn honorable mention
SAN FRANCISCO – Colorado sophomore Kennedy Leonard was named first-team all-Pac-12 by the coaches on Tuesday, leading three Buffs to take home postseason conference awards. Senior Haley Smith and sophomore Alexis Robinson were both named honorable mention all-conference, while Smith was also named to the honorable mention defensive team.
Leonard, a native of Southlake, Texas, becomes the third CU player to earn first-team all-Pac-12 since Colorado joined the conference in 2011-12 (Chucky Jeffery did it twice in 2012 and 2013). She has been among the conference's leaders in most statistical categories this season and is currently in the top four in scoring (17.1), assists (5.7), assist/turnover ratio (2.00) and steals (2.38). Her current assists average is the second-highest in school history and she is just 11 assists away from Ann Troyan's single-season record of 177. Leonard also has two double-doubles this year and four in her two-year career—all with points and assists.
Smith, a native of Sammamish, Washington, is currently averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.2 assists. She recently eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for her career and is the 15th player in CU history to accumulate both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. She has been the team's top rebounder all year and has had more than 10 rebounds five different times, including a career-high 13 twice against Colorado State and Washington State. Smith also has two double-doubles.
Robinson, a native of Ashland, Kentucky, is averaging 11.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals. She has scored over 10 points 14 times, including a career-high 22 points against Air Force on Nov. 13. She had 20 points at Mississippi Valley State and 19 points against No. 10 Washington on Feb. 5. Robinson was key to CU's upset on the road of No. 24 California on Feb. 12, burying three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter of a 64-59 victory, and finishing with 15 points and six assists.
CU is in the midst of a stellar turnaround season and currently 15-14 overall under first-year head coach JR Payne after going 7-23 last year. The Buffs will open the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday against Washington State at 7 p.m. MT at KeyArena in Seattle.
