BOULDER - Colorado's women's basketball team accepted a bid to the Women's NIT on Monday evening. It will be CU's sixth appearance in the WNIT and 19th postseason appearance, including 13 NCAA Tournament selections.

CU will face UNLV in the first round on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Coors Events Center. The Lady Rebels are 22-10 this season and went 12-6 in the Mountain West Conference this season, falling in the semifinals of their conference tournament to Fresno State.

The second round of the tournament runs March 18-21. Round 3 is slated for March 22-24; Round 4 is March 25-27, and the WNIT semifinals are set for March 29-30. The championship will be played on April 1 at 1 p.m. and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

The Buffs (15-15 overall) are 12-5 all-time in the WNIT, including 10-3 at home in the Coors Events Center. They last participated in the WNIT in 2014, reaching the third round of the 64-team tournament. CU has reached the quarterfinals in three of its five previous appearances, including the semifinals in 2008. CU has also advanced past the first round in each of the previous five trips.

First-year head coach JR Payne will be making her third appearance in her eighth season as a head coach. She helped Southern Utah reach the second round in 2014 when the Thunderbirds were eliminated by Colorado 79-68 in Boulder. Last season Payne led Santa Clara to a postseason appearance in the WNIT and a 23-9 overall record.

Ten Pac-12 schools were selected to the postseason on Monday, breaking a conference record. The previous record of nine was set in 2014 when the conference sent five teams to the NCAA Tournament and four to the WNIT.

On Monday, Stanford (No. 2 seed/Lexington Region); Oregon State (No. 2/Stockton); Washington (No. 3/Oklahoma City); UCLA (No. 4/Bridgeport); Arizona State (No. 8/Stockton); California (No. 9/Oklahoma City); Oregon (No. 10/Bridgeport) all earned a postseason bid to the NCAA Tournament.
