Get To Know: Rachel Whipple

BOULDER - The next Buff we'd like to introduce you to is Rachel Whipple. Whipple is a defensive specialist from Centennial, Colo, and will be a sophomore in the fall.
1. What is your favorite volleyball memory and why?
My favorite volleyball memory would be leading my high school team to the state playoffs for the first time in 11 years.
2. Who is someone you look up to the most and why?
I look up to my mom the most because of the countless time, money and love she invests in not only me but everyone that she cares about. She is the most selfless person and inspires me to be a better person every day.
3. Name a place you've always wanted to go to but never have been.
I have always wanted to go to Bora Bora.
4. Why did you choose to become a Colorado Buffalo?
I chose to become a Colorado Buffalo because I had always dreamt of playing for my home state school as a little girl. The campus and town are unlike any other and seeing my family in the stands at every home game is something I feel so fortunate for.
5. What is your favorite TV show?
My favorite TV show would have to be the Office with Grey's Anatomy coming in a close second.
6. Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
Five years from now, I hope to be playing volleyball, working towards becoming a doctor and traveling a lot.
7. If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with one person who would you want that one person to be?
If I had to be stranded on a deserted island with one person I would choose to be stranded with Ryan Reynolds. Hopefully he knows how to build a boat.
8. Do you have any hidden talents?
A hidden talent of mine would definitely be my unmatched ping pong game.
9. Did you play in any other sports growing up or in high school?
Growing up and in high school I played soccer, basketball, tennis and I also was a swimmer.
10. How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?
If I am being totally honest, I have upwards of 45 pairs of shoes
11. Who is your best friend and how did you meet?
My best friend's name is Abbey and we met in high school through volleyball.
12. What is your favorite part about being at the University of Colorado?
My favorite part about the University of Colorado is the beautiful campus that I get to call home.
13. Name one celebrity you would like to meet and why?
One celebrity that I would like to meet would be the football player JJ Watt, he has overcome a lot of adversity as an athlete and has a unique story of endless determination to become one of the greats.
