March 06, 2017 | Lacrosse
BOULDER — In a season of firsts, Colorado has another to add to the list as the Buffaloes are now ranked in the top-10 of all three women's lacrosse polls.
Â
The Buffs moved up from 13th to 10th in this week's IWLCA Coaches Poll, marking the first time CU has been ranked in the top-10 in that poll. Colorado also moved up one spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine Poll from 10th to ninth. There was no movement for the Buffs in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll as they stayed at ninth for the third straight week.
Â
Maryland (4-0) remained in the top spot, while North Carolina (5-1) stayed at second in all three polls.
Â
The Buffs went 2-0 last weekend, which included their third win over a ranked team this season. CU recorded an impressive 14-3 win over the then-No. 14 Denver Pioneers on March 3 and on March 5, the Buffs earned a 20-6 victory against Marquette, holding both teams to a season-low in goals scored.
Â
The Buffs are now 6-0 to start the season, which is a school record. They will face one of their toughest tests this season on Sunday, March 12, as they travel to State College, Pa., to face Penn State, which is ranked fifth in the media poll and sixth in the other two polls.
