Fusco Honored As MPSF Offensive Player Of The Week

BOULDER — After recording nine goals and three assists for a team-best 12 points last weekend, Colorado senior attacker Johnna Fusco has been named the MPSF Offensive Player of the Week.

Fusco led the Buffs, who are currently ninth in the media poll and 10th in the coaches' poll, to wins against then-No. 14 Denver and Marquette last week in Boulder.

The Marietta, Ga. native single-handily scored more goals than No. 14 Denver on March 3 as the Buffs powered past the Pioneers 14-3. Fusco had five goals in the game, tying her career-high. She also added two assists for seven points. Fusco had seven shots in the game, all of which were on goal, went 1-1 on free position attempts and earned three draw controls.Â

Fusco did not let up in the second game, a 20-6 victory against Marquette, scoring four goals. She added one assist for five points. Fusco went 3-4 on free position attempts and again earned three draw controls. She also recorded one ground ball.

The Buffs are 6-0 for the first time in school history and will face another top-10 opponent in No. 6/5 Penn State on Sunday, March 12.
