Kiernan, Thomas Earn Athlete of the Week Honors

In the final home meet of the year, the Buffs track and field team led by senior Jaron Thomas ran away with a combined 11 event titles at the CU Invite. Junior midfielder Darby Kiernan and the women's lacrosse team remain undefeated in conference play after last Friday's win against Stanford. Thomas and Kiernan earn the honors for this week's athlete of the week.
 
Jaron Thomas had a very strong showing in the 400 meter hurdles. Thomas won the event title with an impressive PR time of 50.94. This is the first time he has clocked a sub 51 time in his career. It also gives him the eighth fastest time in the NCAA West Region as of today. The 400 meter hurdles were a highlight on the day as the Buffs took the top four spots on the men's side. Thomas also added a third place finish in the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.12. 
 
Junior midfielder Darby Kiernan led the No. 5/6 Buffs to their first win in seven meetings against the Stanford Cardinal (13-8) on Friday. In the game, Kiernan tallied six points, four goals and two assists. She added five draw controls, two caused turnovers and one ground ball. She converted on 1-of-2 free position attempts and recorded four goals on five shots on goal for a .800 %. The Buffs are now 4-0 in MPSF play, as well as 12-1 overall.

Delaney Hall took home her third straight Javelin event title on Friday at the CU Invite. Hall, who took the event title at both the Fum McGraw and Tom Benich added yet another Friday tossing a 141-5.5/43.11 mark. Hall's PR came at the Tom Benich Invite last weekend where she threw a 145-6/44.36 mark. That PR mark of 14-6/44.36 is currently the No. 35 throw in the NCAA West Region and if it stands Hall will advance to the West Regionals in Austin, Texas.
