Get To Know: Joslyn Hayes

BOULDER – Our final Buff in our 'Get To Know' series is Joslyn Hayes, a middle blocker and right side hitter from Santa Monica, Calif. She will be a senior in the fall.
1. What is your favorite volleyball memory and why?
My favorite volleyball memory is coming back 3-10 in the third set to 15, to win the semifinals in nationals my 18s year of club volleyball. We ended up losing in the finals, but heck did we give a fight to get there.
2. Who is someone you look up to the most and why?
I look up to my boyfriend Jeromy, because he inspires me to be a better player, leader and person. He also does not stand for negative self-talk and instills a hard work ethic in those around him.
3. Name a place you've always wanted to go to but never have been.
Italy, because I hear the foods incredible.
4. Why did you choose to become a Colorado Buffalo?
Because on my visit here, it felt right. The athletic department felt family oriented and the team was very welcoming.
5. What is your favorite TV show?
Bob's Burgers.
6. Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
Either working in a field that lets me work with kids or raising my own.
7. If you had to be stranded on a deserted island with one person who would you want that one person to be?
Katelyn Cuff, because she finds the bright side to things. She would go on about how we would get skinny and tan instead of how we would maybe perhaps inevitably die because neither of us have very good survival skills.
8. Do you have any hidden talents?
I'm very gifted when it comes to untying the tiny knots that you get in your necklaces.
9. Did you play in any other sports growing up or in high school?
I played basketball growing up, but when I got to high school I stuck with volleyball.
10. How many pairs of shoes do you currently own?
About 15 pairs of shoes.
11. Who is your best friend and how did you meet?
Best friends are Avalon and Greta from back home; we went to high school together and played on our school team and on the same club team for sometime.
12. What is your favorite part about being at the University of Colorado?
My former and current teammates. They are my great friends and they really make/made my college experience and life experience awesome.
13. Name one celebrity you would like to meet and why?
I'd like to meet Kristen Wiig, because I bet she would be a blast to be around.
