Lee, Hodgkins Named to All-Pac-12 Team

BOULDER – Senior Esther Lee and Freshman Kirsty Hodgkins of the University of Colorado women's golf team were named to the 2017 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention Team. Lee becomes the first Buff to earn the honor three times in her career as she was also named All-Pac-12 the past two seasons. Hodgkins becomes CU's first freshman to earn the honor.
Lee, a native of Los Alamitos, Calif. leads the team with a 73.09 stroke average and has earned six top-20 finishes this season. Currently ranked as the No. 27 golfer in the country on GolfWeek's poll, Lee won her third career event this past fall at the Branch Law/Dick McGuire Invitational. She shot an NCAA tying-record 61 in the first round of stroke play to finish with a round of 54 score of 198. She has registered a team-best three rounds in the 60s this season, tied for second most all-time in program history, as she recorded three this time last season as well.
Freshman Kirsty Hodgkins becomes the first CU freshman to earn Pac-12 honorable mention honors. Hodgkins is right behind Lee with a stroke average of 74 and has also earned six top-20 finishes this season. Hodgkins has a team high three top-5 finishes this season which included a fourth place finish at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite where she carded a final scorecard of 74-71-73—218. Ranked as the No. 84 golf in the country on GolfWeek's latest poll, Hodgkins a team high 73 birdies so far this season along with 270 pars.
Lee and Hodgkins both finished in the top-20 at the Pac-12 Championships this past week. Lee finished tied for ninth overall with a 5-over 221, while Hodgkins came in tied for 16th at 9-over 225. The duo helped the Buffs earn their highest conference finish in school history and look forward to competing at the NCAA regionals.
CU will hit the road and compete in the Columbus Regional on May 8-10 in Columbus, Ohio. The Buffaloes earned a No. 5 seed in the 72-team field and will look to advance to the NCAA Championship finals for the first time since 2012.
