Six Camps Available In June & July
BOULDER —There are less than two weeks remaining to register for the first University of Colorado volleyball summer camp, which is scheduled June 5-7.
Â
The first camp, All Skills Day Camp I, is designed for grades 7-12. It covers all aspects of the game of volleyball with an emphasis on fundamentals. The techniques and skills taught in this camp are designed to provide a strong foundation that allow players to develop into high level athletes as they continue to play. All skills will be covered including passing, setting, hitting, defense, blocking, serving as well as offensive and defensive systems.
Â
A second session of the camp will be July 13-15.
Â
In total this summer, there are five different camps scheduled for kids third grade and higher. Junior Buffs Camp is a beginner's day camp, July 13-15, for grades 3-6. It is designed for the beginning player looking to learn or improve his or her skills. Campers will be divided into groups by age and skill level while learning appropriate movements and volleyball skills in a fun atmosphere.
Â
The other three camps are commuter or overnight camps. A College Prep Camp will run from July 7-9 and is for athletes in grades 9-12. It is designed for advanced level players who aspire to play volleyball collegiately. Players will get an inside look into the practice regimen and training they would encounter as a member of a top collegiate team.
Â
From July 10-12, the Buffs will host a High Performance Camp for grades 7-12. This is an elite skills training camp which is designed for the advanced player that has aspirations of playing high level collegiate volleyball in the future. The focus of training will be to prepare for the next level with drills and competition designed to refine techniques and enhance the overall level of the volleyball athlete.
Â
CU's final camp is the team camp, which is open to high school teams July 16-18. This camp will help teams improve on all volleyball skill areas as well as team concepts such as serve receive, offensive and defensive strategies. We will offer multiple opportunities for team competition as well as offering significant team bonding activities to bring your team together to be ready for your high school season.
Â
Complete descriptions of each camp, as well as costs and other additional information, is available at CUBuffs.com/Camps. Crystal Gippe, the director of volleyball operations, can also be contacted at crystal.gippe@colorado.edu if there are other questions.
