Buffs Finish Season Ranked 16th In IWLCA Coaches Poll

May 30, 2017 | Lacrosse

BOULDER — After a historic season that saw the Colorado Buffaloes record numerous firsts in the fourth year of the program's existence, including competing in their first NCAA Tournament, CU finished the season ranked 16th in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Coaches Poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Buffs recorded a 16-4 record in 2017, marking the most wins in a single season. They beat four ranked opponents and started the campaign with 11 straight wins. Despite suffering a first round NCAA Tournament loss to Massachusetts on May 12, it was a season the team could be very proud of and will surely build off of in the years to come.

Maryland, the 2017 NCAA Champion, recorded all 20 first-place votes for the top spot in the poll. Following the Terps are Boston College, Penn State, Stony Brook and North Carolina in the top five, respectively.
