Kornieck Selected To U-20 USWNT Roster For Two Upcoming Friendlies

May 09, 2017 | Soccer

CHICAGO – Colorado soccer player Taylor Kornieck has been selected to the U-20 United States Women's National Team roster for an upcoming training camp and two friendlies against Japan.

The U-20 USWNT will train in Carson, California, from May 18-26. The team will face Japan on May 22 and May 24 at the U.S. Soccer NTC at StubHub Center, both games kicking off at 6 p.m. MT.

Kornieck was a team captain for the U-18 USWNT last summer and competed in two matches in England in July.

A sophomore-to-be at CU, Kornieck was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year in 2016 and first-team all-conference after scoring 11 goals and adding four assists, while starting all 22 matches for CU.

EVANS EARNS FIRST PROFESSIONAL START
Former Buff Danica Evans made her first start in the NWSL over the weekend. She played the first 63 minutes of the Orlando Pride's 1-1 draw with FC Kansas City on Saturday.

For the season, Evans has appeared in all four of the Pride's games for a total of 118 minutes. She scored her first goal in the 86th minute to lead the Pride to a 1-1 draw with the Washington Spirit on April 22 and earned NWSL Goal of the Week for her effort. She also has three shots on goal in the four games.

Evans is the fourth CU player to start an NWSL game, joining Amy Barczuk (Western New York Flash – 2013-14, Boston Breakers – 2015), Michelle (Wenino) Lomnicki (Chicago Red Stars – 2013-15) and Nikki Marshall (Portland Thorns FC – 2013-14).
