Women's Golf Desperado Classic Scheduled For September 17
August 14, 2017 | Women's Golf
BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's golf annual fundraising event - the Desperado Classic is scheduled for Sept. 17 at The Fox Hill Club in Longmont. The 18-hole tournament, now in its 17th year helps raise money to support the priority needs of the team for the upcoming season.
"The funds from this event will continue to help our program improve and become even more competitive," head coach Anne Kelly said. "Specifically, we are trying to raise money for a Trackman Unit that will be used by the team in our new on campus Golf Office and practice area. Last spring we converted an old office in the stadium into a space that has indoor putting and a simulator area to hit balls and practice. The Trackman will function as a simulator as well as a unit that will provide much needed information to help players improve."
This year's event is a four-person scramble and the day will begin with registration and warm-up at 11:45 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Individual entry fees are $145 per person, which includes green fees and access to the post-round awards party. During the awards reception, golfers can enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and check out the silent auction. A team of three can register for $570 and play with a celebrity. Non-golfers, friends and family are also welcome to attend the awards party for $30 each.
In addition to competing, prize donation opportunities as well as hole sponsorships are available with the net proceeds going toward the women's golf program.
Registration is available online at CUBuffs.com/events. For questions and more information about the tournament, please contact CU head coach Anne Kelly at 303-492-4455 or anne.kelly@colorado.edu.
