BOULDER — After helping to guide the Buffaloes to their best season to date, Colorado head coach Ann Elliott has promoted assistant coach Alex Frank to an associate head coach, effective immediately.

"Alex has done an incredible job over the last two years here as an assistant and has had a major impact on all aspects of our program; recruiting, player development, game management, etc.," Elliott said. "She is truly passionate about the University of Colorado and is committed to the success of our players, on and off the field, and our program."

"As a head coach, it is important to me to surround myself with the best and those that will consistently continue to push our staff and our players to be better. As such, I can think of no one more deserving than Alex to be promoted to Associate Head Coach. I am excited to enter another season with Alex by my side and I am looking forward to seeing what we can continue to build here at Colorado together."

"I am honored to be named Associate Head Coach at Colorado," Frank said.  "I want to thank Athletic Director Rick George, Coach Elliott and the athletic administration for this opportunity and for their guidance and mentorship.  I am excited to be a part of our program's transition into the Pac-12 and look forward to our continued growth and success."

CU recorded a 16-4 overall mark during the 2017 season, which was a school record for the most wins, and advanced to its first NCAA Tournament. The Buffs also recorded a 7-1 record in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, finishing second in the regular and postseason action.

Over the last two seasons. Frank has helped the Buffs to a 29-9 overall record (13-5 in 2016), as well as a 14-3 mark in league play. Colorado has also been dominate at home, finishing with a perfect 8-0 mark in 2017 after a 6-1 record in 2016 for a .933 winning percentage.

The Buffs recorded their first win over a ranked team on Feb. 12, 2017 with an 11-10 overtime decision against No. 9 Northwestern to open the season. CU went on to win its next 10 games and catapulted into the national rankings, reaching as high as fourth in all three major polls.

In her two seasons with the Buffs, Frank's athletes have combined for 13 All-MPSF and seven all-region honors. In 2017, Sarah Brown, Darby Kiernan and Paige Soenksen were selected CU's first-ever IWLCA All-Americans at the end of the season. Brown earned second team honors, while Kiernan and Soenksen were third team selections.

Frank came to Colorado after serving as an assistant coach for three seasons at Boston College where she helped guide the Eagles to three consecutive winning seasons (42-18 combined record) and three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament, advancing as far as the quarterfinals in 2014.

In addition to her work at the collegiate level, Frank spent nine years as a coach and director for the Mass Elite Lacrosse Club team, helping players develop specific lacrosse skills and concepts. She also coordinated practice plans for more than 50 team members.

Her lacrosse career first began in 2008 as a midfielder at Northwestern University. She played her entire collegiate career under Elliott when Elliott was an assistant on the NU staff from 2008-12. As a member of the Wildcats, Frank helped her team win three NCAA Championships, first in 2009 and then back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012.

During Frank's playing career at NU, she earned a variety of accolades for her impressive performance on the field and strong leadership skills, being elected team captain as a junior and senior. The Westwood, Mass., native was named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America team three times and was a three-time All-Big Ten Conference honoree while earning a place on the conference all-tournament team twice.

Frank was recognized for her academic achievements as well. She was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team all three years of eligibility (2010-12) and as a senior, she was honored as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year.

Frank graduated from Northwestern in 2012 with a degree in radio, television and film and a minor in business institutions.
