Morgan Selected To U.S. Soccer Youth National Team Scouting Network

January 11, 2018 | Soccer

BOULDER – University of Colorado assistant soccer coach Dave Morgan has been selected to the U.S. Soccer Youth National Team Scouting network. He will work under technical advisor Katie Cole and scout youth in Colorado and around the United States for the youth national teams.

"It's a great opportunity for Dave to work with U.S. Soccer to identify young talent in the region and around the country to move into our youth national teams and hopefully eventually have an opportunity to represent the full national team to continue to compete at a high level around the world," CU head coach Danny Sanchez said.

With his duties for U.S. Soccer, Morgan will be asked to identify and evaluate players and assist with U.S. Soccer training centers. U.S. Soccer assembles national teams at the youth level beginning with the U-14 age group.

U.S. Soccer has been one of the premier leaders around the world in women's soccer. The full national team has medaled in every FIFA Women's World Cup since 1991, including three championships in the seven competitions during that span. At the Olympics level, the U.S. has won gold at four of the six Olympic Games since 1996. The U.S. is currently No. 1 in the latest FIFA world rankings.

Morgan will be entering his fourth season at CU in 2018. In his three years in Boulder, he has helped the Buffs reach the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons.
