Kornieck Earns All-America Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Colorado junior Taylor Kornieck was named second-team All-America by the United Soccer Coaches (USC) on Thursday. Kornieck is the first All-American for the Buffaloes since 2006.

Kornieck joins Fran Munnelly as the only other Colorado student-athlete to earn All-America honors from the USC. Munnelly earned second and third-team selections in her tenure as a Buff in 2004 and 2005. Nikki Marshall was a 2006 fourth-team Soccer Buzz Online All-American.

"Taylor came to Colorado to make an impact and she has done just that," head coach Danny Sanchez said. "This recognition is a reflection of our team's success and her personal drive to be the best. We are excited for her, but more excited to see what she can do as she leads us in her senior year."

Kornieck, a Henderson, Nev., native, finished second on the team with a career-best 28 points, despite missing four matches to injury. She currently ranks seventh in the NCAA with .63 assists per game. Kornieck set the CU record for assists in 2018. She became the first Buffalo to reach double-digits, finishing with 10 (13th NCAA).

The 6-1 forward scored nine goals in her 16 starts, tallying two multi-goal games. Kornieck was also among the top offensive players in the nation this season, totaling school record 1.75 points per game (11th NCAA).

Kornieck jumped up the record lists at Colorado this season. She leads the Buffs with 1.20 points per game in her three seasons. Kornieck moved into second, averaging .45 goals per game and is fourth in points (72), fourth in goals (27) and third in assists (18).

This is just the latest postseason honor for Kornieck. She was also a first-team All-Pac-12 selection and a first-team All-Pacific Region honoree.
