Colorado To Face Dayton In 2019 Chicago Legends Event
December 04, 2018 | Men's Basketball
BOULDER – The first piece of the 2019-20 University of Colorado men's basketball schedule was set into place on Tuesday, as the Buffaloes will face Dayton at the United Center in Chicago on Dec. 21, 2019.
The game is part of the Chicago Legends event, a basketball doubleheader that recognizes the tradition, history and passion of Chicago basketball. It features some of the nation's top college basketball programs for a weekend of exciting competition and celebration of the city's contributions to the game of basketball.
"We are excited to bring our team to Chicago next year," Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said. "We have a lot of alumni and fans of the Buffaloes in the Midwest, so it's a great opportunity to get back there and play a quality opponent. We also have a couple players from that area of the country in McKinley Wright IV (Minnesota) and Deleon Brown (Michigan), so they'll be able to play in front of their friends and family."
The other game of the Chicago Legends doubleheader will feature Cincinnati and Iowa. Times, television and ticket information will be available at a later date.
Colorado and Dayton will meet for the fourth time and just the second time in the last 32 years. The Buffaloes hold a 2-1 edge in the series, with the last meeting a 67-57 Colorado win in the first round of the 2012 Charleston Classic in South Carolina. The Flyers, out of the Atlantic 10 Conference, have been to the NCAA Tournament four of the last five years and are currently 4-3 in 2018-19.
Next season's contest will be Colorado's first trip to the Chicago area since a 67-56 win at Northwestern to open the 2003-04 campaign.
