March 05, 2018 | Lacrosse

BOULDER — After a dominating 18-3 victory against then-No. 19 Virginia Tech on Sunday, March 4, the Colorado Buffaloes moved up in all three of the national polls. CU's highest ranking is 15th in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. The Buffs (3-2) are also 19th in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and are 20th in the NIKE/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Poll.

The Buffs recorded the first nine goals in the game against the Hokies. Their 18 goals is the most CU has scored against a ranked opponent in school history, while the three goals against tied the fewest goals a ranked team has scored against the Buffs.

Miranda Stinson led the Buffs with eight points, five goals and three assists, while Darby Kiernan tallied seven points with a pair of goals and two assists. In goal, Julia Lisella faced 14 shots and stopped a career-high 11.

The Pac-12 Conference has two other schools ranked in the polls. Southern California is ranked 12th in the IWLCA poll for its highest ranking, while Stanford's best position is 18th, also in the IWLCA Poll.

The Buffs open up Pac-12 Conference play this week at home. They will face Stanford on Friday, March 9, at 3 p.m. and on Sunday, March 11, California will be in town for a game at 12 p.m. Both contests will be played at Kittredge Field.
