Kiernan Earns Record 5th Pac-12 Player of the Week Honor

April 23, 2018 | Lacrosse

BOULDERDarby Kiernan has been setting and breaking records during her career at Colorado, so it's no surprise that she has added another record to her resume as the Colorado attacker has been named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week for a record fifth time this season. The five honors is the most by any Pac-12 player in the inaugural season of the conference.

Kiernan, who earned the honor for the third straight week, recorded nine points on April 20 against Oregon, which helped the Buffs secure the regular season Pac-12 Championship. The Ridgewood, N.J. native scored six goals and added three assists and five draw controls in CU's 19-9 victory over the Ducks. Four of her goals came in the first half, while the other two, in addition to her three assists, were in the second half.

As a team, the Buffs recorded nine of the 22 possible weekly awards this season. Besides Kiernan's five, Sarah Brown was the defensive player of the week twice and Miranda Stinson (offense) and Julia Lisella (defense) earned their respective honors once. The Buffs swept the weekly honors on three occasions this spring.

The No. 14 Buffs finished the regular season with a 12-4 mark and earned the top-seed in the Pac-12 Tournament with a 9-1 league record.
