Buffs Earn Two Top Ten Finishes in Des Moines

BOULDER – Despite weather delays and rough conditions, University of Colorado track and field athletes finished their weekend of competition at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships with two top ten finishes.
Recent graduate Erin Clark ran the women's 5,000 meters and finished in ninth place with a time of 15:54.17. Clark pulled from 19th place all the way up to ninth, competing against professional and seasoned runners.
Clark finished just behind former CU athlete Sara Sutherland who came in at 15:45.91, earning eighth place.
During her time at CU, Clark earned five other All-America honors both indoors and outdoors. Academically, Clark earned Pac-12 All-Academic fist team in 2017, All-MPSF Academic honors in 2016 and 2017, and USTFCCA Academic honors in 2017. Clark earned a degree in ecology and evolutionary biology, and earned her master's degree in educational foundations, policy and practice.
Joe Klecker ran the men's 5,000 meters and also finished in ninth place. Klecker crossed the finish line in 13:41.65. Klecker started the race off in eighth place, and dropped back a little bit to 16th before pulling ahead and finishing in ninth. This is a personal best for Klecker.
