STANFORD, Calif. — University of Colorado junior Brianna Schwartz ran a very smart race on Saturday morning to finish eighth at the Stanford Invitational at Stanford Golf Course.

Schwartz led CU's women, clocking in a time of 21 minutes, 14.2 seconds for the finish.

Colorado sent a small group to race at the event, and by competing at the meet, the Buffs were able to preview the Pac-12 Championship course as Stanford will host the meet at the end of October. The women's team had five racers and combined for a team finish of ninth with 281 points, while the men had two individual runners (no team score).

WOMEN'S RACE:
At the 2k split, Schwartz was 12^th and worked herself up to 10^th at the 4k mark. She was able to move up an additional two positions before the finish, edging out UCLA's Erika Adler (21:13.60) by just 1.20 seconds at the line.

CU's No. 2 runner in the meet was Abby Regner, who finished 48^th. She clocked in at 22:25.30, which was 0.10 seconds in front of Olivia Willett (Simon Fraser), who finished in 22:35.40.

Cayla Seligman, the third Buff to finish, was not far behind from Regner, finishing 62nd overall (22:38.90). CU's other runners were Elissa Mann and Kate Intile. Mann was 81^st (23:01.80), while Intile was 120^th (24:04.20).

Stanford's Elisa Cranny won the meet in 20:32.50, defeating Washington's Katie Rainsberger (20:39.70).

MEN'S RACE:
Justice Ramos led CU in the men's 8k race, finishing 71^st. He crossed the finish with a time of 26:01.60. His younger brother, Josh, completed the race in 27:59.10 for 153^rd.

The winning time on the men's side was 23:46.40, which was run by Robert Brandt.

UP NEXT: The Buffs will have two weeks off before returning to Madison, Wis. for the NCAA Pre-National Invitational on October 13.
