Colorado 24th in Recent AVCA Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Following a 1-1 weekend in the Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Challenge, the University of Colorado volleyball team is ranked 24th in the week 3 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Coaches Poll, which was released on Monday.
Colorado went into the weekend ranked 21st, but moved to 24th in the recent poll after falling to No. 11 Illinois in three sets during the first match of the 2018 Pac-12 vs. Big Ten Challenge. Season-highs in kills for Alexa Smith and career-high in digs from Justine Spann lifted Colorado against Iowa in the second matchup and put the duo on the 2018 Pac-12 vs. Big Ten All-Tournament team.
The Pac-12 Conference fell a bit in the poll in terms of high placement, but added another team to match the Big Ten with eight team in the top-25. Previous No. 1 Stanford fell to fourth after a five set loss to BYU, while undefeated UCLA rose to No. 9. USC is a place behind UCLA in 10th with a first-place vote to its name. After that is Washington in 12th, Oregon at 18th, Utah at 21st and Washington State joining the rankings at 23rd.
The Buffs are at home for the first time this season as they host the 2018 Buffs Invitational. Colorado opens against Georgia at 6 p.m. on Friday in the CU Events Center, followed by two matchups Saturday against North Carolina at noon and Oklahoma at 7 p.m. All Colorado matches will be streamed live on Pac-12 Plus.
