On The Match
"It is no fun to lose. It was good for us to play four competitive sets. We were in position to win in three of those and couldn't quite finish, but I was proud of our effort and the fact that we got better as the match went on. That's a really good team on the other side of the net. They do a lot of things that stress you out defensively. We did a nice job of following our scout and game plan. If we continue to do those things we will get on the other side of it pretty soon."
On The Play Of Freshman Sterling Parker and Elissa Alcantara
"Sterling has been out there all season and has been doing a nice job. She can be a streaky player but is super physical and slowed down their outside hitters. This was the first opportunity for Elissa to get a lot of playing time. I thought she did a nice job. There are things she can get better at, but she knows what those are. There Is no way to simulate that type of match it practice. You have to go through it. The next time she is on the floor she will be better and the next time a little better. it was good to see her do a lot of good things tonight."
On Improving
"If we play at this level and continue to get a little bit better we are going to start winning matches. It is no fun to lose. We don't like it. We have to continue to grow and get better. I felt like tonight was a step forward. That was as good of a match as we've played in the last five matches in the PAC-12. If we played that well we wouldn't be 0-5 right now. We have to buy into that and understand that. We have to show up on Sunday and continue to play our hearts out."

On What They Can Take Away From The Match
"It definitely helps being at home. We always talk about taking advantage of the energy at home. I felt like our team executed the game plan. We had been focusing a lot this week on dialing in on our scouting report. That helped us to be able to diversify the setting. In terms of passing, I thought we struggled in certain areas but thought it was really good to get neutral sets in there."
Sophomore Jenna Ewert
On Players Stepping Up
"Elissa hasn't been on the court a whole lot this season. Dani (Price) is off right now. When we have our prep practices it is a little bit more figuring out how to fill in for those (injured) people. Our bench is pretty deep. Jill is out, but Elissa did a really good job offensively. She got a lot of kills swinging high for us. Lillie (Klemmer) did a really good job. They are working hard. That is all we can really ask for. Everybody is always fighting for a spot. When they get a chance, they are going to do their best. That is what really helps them step in and play at their highest potential in the game."
