Buffs Compete At RoadRunner Invitational

DENVER — Several members of the University of Colorado cross country teams raced at the RoadRunner Invitational Saturday morning at Washington Park in Denver.
 
In the women's 6-kilometer race, redshirt freshman Liz Constien was the lone uniformed racer for CU. She was also the highest finisher for the Buffs, placing fifth overall in 22 minutes, 25.2 seconds.
 
A pair of freshman ran in the meet unattached and finished in the top 20. Carley Bennett led the duo with an eighth-place finish in 22:45.4. Alisa Meraz-Fishbein placed 16th overall (23:49.9).
 
In the men's 8-kilometer race, CU's uniformed racers were led by senior Justice Ramos. He was 17th overall, finishing in 26:21.4. Sophomore Gus Newcomb was the second harrier for CU to finish, crossing 20th in 26:30.2. Redshirt freshman Jonathon Horton was 25th (26:35.5).
 
The Buffaloes' unattached freshmen racers did very well, finishing in the top 5. Austin Vancil was third (24:53.4), Noah Hibbard placed fourth (25:10.7) and Hunter Appleton was fifth (25:10.7).
 
UP NEXT: The Buffs will be back in action, Oct. 19, at NCAA Pre-Nationals, in Terre Haute, Ind.
