2020 Colorado Lacrosse Schedule Announced
November 25, 2019 | Lacrosse
BOULDER — It's no secret University of Colorado lacrosse head coach Ann Elliott Whidden doesn't shy away from tough competition when she puts together her team's schedule.
Â
This year is no different as the Buffs will take on six ranked opponents, which includes a pair of Pac-12 opponents. CU, which was ranked 19th in the IWLCA poll at the end of the season, will start the season against Florida, which was ranked 13th at the end of the season for the third straight year, on Feb. 8. This is the second time in three years the Buffs will take on the Gators to open the season on the road. In 2019, CU hosted Florida.
Â
The Gators are the first of six non-conference opponents the Buffs will face during the season. After the season opener, the Buffaloes will return home to host Harvard Feb. 21. It will be a quick turnaround for their third game of the season as Colorado will head to Ann Arbor, Mich. for a contest Feb. 23 against No. 11 Michigan.
Â
The conference slate will begin March 6 with Oregon coming to Boulder. Just two days later, CU will host its fourth non-conference, Coastal Carolina.
Â
The next eight games will be league opponents. The Buffs will head to Northern California to face Cal and No. 23 Stanford March 13 and 15, respectively, before returning home to wrap-up the first half of conference play against Arizona State (March 20) and No. 17 Southern California (March 22).
Â
Less than a week later, Colorado will see ASU and USC for the second time of the season, this time on the road. The Sun Devils will host the Buffs March 27 in Tempe, Ariz., while USC will host CU in Los Angeles March 29.
Â
The home schedule will finish the first week of April as the Buffs will face Cal April 3 and Stanford April 5.
Â
Colorado will play two more non-conference contest against No. 8 Denver (April 9) and No. 12 Stony Brook (April 12) on the road before finishing Pac-12 play at Oregon (April 17).
Â
The Pac-12 Conference Tournament will take place April 23-26 in Palo Alto, Calif., with Stanford serving as the host. The NCAA Tournament field will be announced early in May. The first and second rounds will take place May 8 and 10, respectively, while the quarterfinals are slated for May 16-17. The semifinals are scheduled for May 22 and the finals are May 24.
Â
Before the season starts, the Buffs will have a chance to see how they stack up against the nation's best Jan. 26 when they scrimmage No. 4 Northwestern in Boulder. NU has been one of the nation's elite programs and will likely be ranked highly this season.
Â
All dates and times are subject to change. Pac-12 Network TV games will be announced at a later date.
