Buffs To Host In-State Rival No. 15 Denver

BOULDER — After playing three straight games at home, the 25th ranked University of Colorado lacrosse team will wrap up its four-game homestand on Tuesday, March 26, with a contest against in-state rival No. 15 Denver. Opening draw is slated for 4 p.m. at Kittredge Field.

ABOUT THE BUFFS: The Buffs are 5-4 overall and are 4-1 in Pac-12 Conference play. They are currently ranked 25th in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Poll and are 20th in the NIKE/US Lacrosse poll. The Buffs finished the first half of conference play last Saturday with a 15-6 victory against Oregon.

Senior Miranda Stinson leads the Pac-12 in goals (35) and is second in points (45). In conference games, she is the leader in both categories with 26 goals and 31 points. Nationally, she ranks 13th in goals and 20th in points. She is averaging an NCAA best 9.67 shots per game, as well as 7.00 shots on goal per game (second in the NCAA).

Another senior, Samantha Nemirov, is second on the team with 25 goals. There are three other Buffs with at least 10 goals this season: Sadie Grozier (16), Charlie Rudy (11) and Sophie Castillo (10). Stinson is the team leader in draw controls with 31, while Eliza Cahill is second (29) and Kate Burnside is third (25). Â

Julia Lisella has started in eight games for the Buffs and has a 4-4 record on the year. She is allowing 9.75 goals against and has a .477 save percentage. The Buffs have forced 102 opponent turnovers, which leads the Pac-12. Olivia Aschman has a team-best 14 caused turnovers and Stinson is second with 13 while Macaul Mellor is third (11). Â

ABOUT THE PIONEERS: Denver is 7-2 this season, which includes a 2-1 mark against ranked opponents. The Pioneers are currently ranked 15th in the latest IWLCA Poll. They are also 19th in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse media poll and are 18th in the NIKE/US Lacrosse poll.

Quintin Hoch-Bullen has recorded a team-best 32 points through nine games, 26 of those are from goals. DU also has another 20-goal scorer in Julia Feiss (20), who also has nine assists for 29 points. The Pioneers are averaging 9.33 assists per game and have a pair of athletes, Eliza Radochonski and Hannah Liddy, who have recorded 20 assists. Kendra Lanuza is third on the team with 17.
