Hodgkins Finishes Seventh At Colorado Women’s Open

BOULDER —The University of Colorado women's golf team was well represented this week on the course, with several current and former Buffaloes competing.
Most notably, four Buffs took to the Green Valley Ranch Golf Course for the Colorado Women's Open. Current Buffaloes Kirsty Hodgkins, Jaclyn Murray and Kelsey Webster, along with former Buff Erin (Kerr) Houtsma, competed in a talented mix of athletes.
Of those four, Hodgkins was the only to make it through to the third and final round. She recorded a 1-under 143 in the first two rounds, shooting a 2-over 74 and a 3-under 69, respectively, which put her in a tie for fourth. She had a solid final 18 with a 1-over 73 and placed seventh overall as the top amateur in the field with a final scorecard of 216.
"I'm very happy I was able to come out with the low am at this event," Hodgkins said. "They always have a strong field and it's comforting to know that in such a strong field I can hold my own. I struggled to get a good round together this past semester, so it was nice to have everything come together for this week, especially the second round to be able to break 70, that felt really good."
Murray ended up tied for 73rd (16-over 160), while Webster was tied for 84th (19-over 163). Houtsma finshed tied for 92nd (26-over 170).
Meanwhile across the Atlantic Ocean in Switzerland, Malak Bouraeda was representing Morocco at the Ladies European Tour's Lavaux Ladies Championship. She shot a 7-over 79 in the first round and followed that up with a 3-over 75 for a 36-hole score of 154 (10-over). She did not make the cut for the final round, finishing in a tie for 80th.
