Lau Finishes Second At B.C. Women’s Amateur

BOULDER — University of Colorado redshirt sophomore Alisha Lau is getting back into the swing of things, placing second at the British Columbia Women's Amateur at Nanaimo Golf Course in Nanaimo, British Columbia, last week.
Lau recorded a four-day score of 291, 3-over, and was just two strokes from the winner, Angel (Mu Chen) Lin, who earned a 1-over 289. Lau finished the tournament with a five-stroke advantage over the third-place finisher, Euna Han (296).
Lau led for the first three days. She shot a 2-under 70 during the first day, and after a 2-over on day two, was sitting at an even 144. A 1-over 73 during the third round put her at a 1-over 217, but a little trouble in the final round saw her record another 74.
The final 18 started off well, with Lau shooting a 1-under 35. She had a bogey on No. 10, but evened it out with a birdie on No. 11. Lau made par on the next two holes before adding another birdie on No. 14 to put her at 1-under. But the following two holes gave her a bit of trouble as she shot a triple bogey on No. 15 and a bogey on No. 16. She did make par on the final two holes to finish at 2-over.
Lau did not play for the Buffs in during the 2018-19 season as she recovered from surgery, but was a big part of CU's success during the 2017-18 season that saw CU advance to the NCAA Championships for just the second time in school history. As a freshman, Lau was fourth on the team with a 76.97 stroke average through 37 rounds. She looks to regain her spot this fall when the Buffs start the season on September 9-10, at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas.
25 YEARS OF CU WOMEN'S GOLF
The Buffs will celebrate their 25th anniversary as a varsity program this season. CU will host a reunion October 25-26. Those coming for the reunion will be able to attend CU's football game against Southern California on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in Folsom Field. Details regarding registrations, the football game and other events will be announced later.
