BOULDER – Colorado women's basketball announced the addition of Monica Armstrong as the team's Recruiting Coordinator & Special Assistant to the Head Coach on Tuesday.

Armstrong shifts over from her role as an academic mentor and study hall supervisor in her previous two years at CU.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Monica's experience and passion joining our staff," head coach JR Payne exclaimed. "Monica embodies everything that we value in our coaching staff as she is dedicated to the growth of our student-athletes both on the court and in the classroom.  We are very lucky to have someone like Monica on our staff as she pours her heart and soul into the students that she mentors and will help our student-athletes strive for excellence in all areas of their life."

Armstrong came to Colorado after 10 years on the women's basketball coaching staff at Mt. San Antonio College (Calif.). During her time at Mt. SAC, she served as the first assistant coach, director of operations and recruiting coordinator, helping the Mounties to six state titles in that span. While at Mt. SAC, she was also the head coach of the West Coast Premier Basketball Academy from 2008-15.

Armstrong played two seasons at point guard for the Mounties, leading the team in steals both her freshman and sophomore season. She moved on to play her junior season at Metro State in Denver and finished her career at Cal Poly Pomona. Armstrong earned her bachelor's degree in business communications from the University of Phoenix in 2014.

A native of West Covina, Calif., Armstrong played basketball and softball at Diamond Bar High School and played AAU ball with current WNBA star Diana Taurasi. She is married to Akirah Bradley, current Dean of Students and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at CU Boulder.
