Boee, Lervik Hit Podium As Buffs Finish Second In Own Invitational
January 19, 2020 | Skiing
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS—Senior Anne Siri Lervik and freshman Magnus Boee both hit the podium and led the Colorado Ski Team as four Buffs earned top five finishes at Howelsen Hill Sunday in the CU Spencer James Nelson Memorial Invitational. Â
The Buffs again had a solid day, better than Saturday's but not quite up to the performance of Utah, as the Utes ran away with the meet title, scoring 745 points to 641 for CU, taking it by over 100 points. Â CU was then over 100 points up on third place Alaska Anchorage (523), who surpassed Denver (496.5) on the final day.Â
Boee was with the race leaders through the first three-and-a-half laps and just couldn't keep pace with race winner Samuel Hendry over the last 2K of the race to finish second. Â He took fifth in Saturday's freestyle races to give him two top five finishes to open his career. Â Senior Ryan Jackson finished fourth in an impressive performance as the Buffs two newcomers led the way. Â
Lervik finished third to earn a podium performance, the ninth of her career. Â She was injured in the fall and although she trained hard, this was her first time on snow this winter, earning two top five finishes to lead the Buffs. Â Junior Hedda Baangman finished fifth and had a photo finish with Utah's Mariah Bredal for fourth place. Â Freshman Anna-Maria Dietze also had an impressive race, finishing 11th for the Buffs.Â
The Nordic teams remain center stage on the college skiing circuit, as they will head to Maloit Park near Vail next weekend to finish out the Denver Invitational.Â
