Buffs Remain In IWLCA Top-25 Poll

March 09, 2020 | Lacrosse

BOULDER — After recording back-to-back wins last week at Kittredge Field, the Colorado lacrosse team has earned a 25th-place ranking in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Poll.

The Buffaloes (3-2, 1-0 Pac-12) recorded a 21-5 win against Oregon on March 6 to open Pac-12 Conference play and followed that up with a 19-8 decision over Coastal Carolina on March 8. CU recorded 40 goals in the pair of wins, which is the second most goals the Buffs have scored in back-to-back games. Colorado recorded 42 points in 2017 after recording wins against St. Mary's (24-5) and California (18-6), April 21 and April 23, respectively.

North Carolina (6-0) continues to be the top-ranked team in the IWLCA poll, collecting all 25 first-place votes for 625 points. Following UNC is Notre Dame (second), Loyola (third), Syracuse (fourth) and Stony Brook (fifth). The Pac-12 Conference has three teams in the IWLCA top-25 with Southern California leading the way at seventh. Stanford and CU switched places this week in the poll as the Cardinal moved up to 24th and the Buffs slipped to 25th.

Colorado's next eight contests will be Pac-12 games. This week the Buffs head to Northern California to face California (2-5, 0-2) on March 13 and Stanford (3-4, 1-1) on March 15.
