Hodgkins Finishes Fourth At CGA Women’s Stroke Play Championship

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — University of Colorado senior Kirsty Hodgkins recorded a fourth-place finish on Wednesday, leading a small group of Buffaloes at the 73rd CGA Women's Stroke Play Championship.
 
Hodgkins finished the three-round tournament with a 7-over 220. She carded rounds of 72-73-75 at The Ranch Country Club, a 6,288-yard, par 71 course. In the first round, she made par on every hole except on one, No. 2, where she recorded her only bogey of the day.
 
Her second round was not as consistent but was still good. On the front nine, she shot a 1-over 36 with two birdies, four pars and three bogies. Hodgkins recorded another 1-over in the back nine for a 37 with one birdie, six pars and two bogeys.
 
In the final round, she had a little trouble on the front nine, recording a double-bogey on the third hole after starting the day making two pars. She finished the next six holes making three pars, one birdie and another two birdies for a 38. The back nine was a little better, but again she had a little trouble at the start. Hodgkins recorded a bogey on the 10th hole, before sinking a birdie on No. 11. She followed that up with another bogey before making par on the next three holes. Hodgkins finished the final three holes with a birdie, bogey and par, respectively, earning a 37 in the process.
 
The second highest finishing Buff at the event was junior Kelsey Webster, who placed 13th overall. She carded a 78 in the first round but came back to shoot an even 71 in the second round which included four birdies. She finished the event with a 76 to score a 12-over 225.  
 
Teammate Elle Otten, a senior, tied for 16th. She carded an 18-over 231 (77-75-79). Incoming CU freshman Hailey Schalk was also at the tournament and finished tied for 25th (80-79-77—236).
 
Aubri Braecklein won the event with a 4-over 217. She carded rounds of 70-74-73. Just one stroke behind her was Charlotte Hillary (75-67-76—218) and another stroke back in third was Leigha Devine (76-70-73—219).
