Hurta, Gray, And Forejtek Named CU Athletes Of The Week, Presented By Arrow

BOULDER- Sage Hurta (Indoor Track), Cassidy Gray (Skiing), and Filip Forejtek (Skiing) are the CU Athletes of the Week, Presented by Arrow.

Hurta now holds the nation's top women's mile mark this season after her performance at the Iowa State Classic. Hurta's time of 4:31.80 on Saturday beat the previous highest mark by almost four seconds. The blazing mark also broke the record at the Harry Hoak Track in Ames, Iowa. The senior stays at her fourth-place spot in the CU record book in the mile with the time.

Hurta has now won the Athlete of the Week award five times in her esteemed career.

Gray won the Women's Giant Slalom #1 race in Park City, Utah last week in the RMISA Invitational. It was the first time Gray has raced in the GS in college, making her the first skier since Mikaela Tommy in 2019 to win their first race in a particular discipline, and only the second since 2000 when Tove Pashkowski also accomplished the feat.

Gray joins a growing list of freshmen to win the Athlete of the Week award this season that includes Brenden Rice, Ian Gilmore, and Frida Formann.

Forejtek raced in three races last week and, in typical fashion, earned three top-five finishes. He finished third and fourth in the slalom race and fifth in the GS. In races he has finished, Forejtek has now placed in the top-five in 12 straight times. That is the longest streak at Colorado since David Ketterer in 2017.

It's the fourth time Forejtek has won the Athlete of the Week award in his career and the second time this season.
