
Hurta Advances To Finals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Colorado track and field senior Sage Hurta successfully advanced to the finals in the mile at the NCAA Track and Field Championships Friday evening, here.

Hurta, who ran in the second heat, got boxed in but was sitting fourth through the quarter-mile at 68 seconds. She worked outside with one huge move to get to second and on the leader's shoulder. Arkansas put three in front of Hurta, passing the halfway mark at 2:18 before Hurta tried to take the lead and did so at the 900 mark, gapping the field quickly.

Hurta cleared the 1,000-meter mark with a five meter lead and never looked back, winning her heat in 4:37.04, the fastest qualifying time. The first heat went through with Krissy Gear of Arkansas winning in 4:40.92 with the final time qualifying spot at 4:42.09.

The final will compete tomorrow at 5 p.m. MT on ESPN3.
