Colorado Set For ITA Regional Championships
October 11, 2022 | Tennis
BOULDER - The University of Colorado women's tennis team will travel to Las Vegas this week to compete in the ITA Mountain Regional Championships.
Â
Â
After sending half of the team to the San Diego Intercollegiate Invitational and the other half to the CSU John Messick Invitational, the Buffs will be at full force from Oct. 12-16 as they send all eight of their players to Las Vegas.
Â
Mila Stanojevic, Antonia Balzert, and Elys Ventura are all coming off of promising performances at the San Diego Intercollegiate Invitational. Aya El Sayed had a breakout weekend as well, winning matches in both singles and doubles alongside Balzert.
Â
Â
In Fort Collins, Anya Nelson notched her first career win as a Buff. She continued her weekend reaching the quarterfinals in doubles alongside Ellen Puzak after taking down Jessica Hill and Sicely Ferreira of Weber State in the round of 16. Carri Hayes also impressed at the John Messick Invitational as she reached the round of 16 in Flight A singles.
Â
Â
This season has embarked a new chapter for Colorado women's tennis with half the team being either freshman or transfers. Among the new additions this year, El Sayed has stood out for CU in tournament play after winning the Singles Consolation Championship at the Battle in the Bay Classic to start the season. She hopes to continue her success with the rest of her team this week in Las Vegas where she will compete in singles and doubles. Â
