
Colorado Throws Lead Opening Day

BOULDER – The University of Colorado track and field program opened the 2022 outdoor season here Friday with the first day of field events at the 2022 Jerry Quiller Classic.

The Buffs throws were on full display in the javelin and hammer throw with wins in the men's hammer throw from Dominique Williams and in the women's javelin from Jada Green.

Williams, who competed unattached in the weight throw during indoors, picked up right where he left off last season with a winning toss of 60.56 meters (199-0) in the men's hammer. He won the meet by more than three meters and was just two feet from his personal best which is already good for third in CU history. Clayton Castro also had a good toss, placing third with a mark of 54.10 meters (177-6).

Green, who burst onto the scene last year in the javelin, won the meet by more than four meters with a winning toss of 43.33 meters (142-2). She was joined by Allie Routledge in fourth with a mark of 31.62 meters (103-9).

On the men's side, Henry Carlson placed fourth in the men's javelin with a toss of 52.12 meters (171-0). For

In the women's hammer, Elena Opp led five CU women with a second-place finish, throwing 54.12 meters (177-7). That mark is good for fifth in CU history and is the third-best mark by a CU woman in Boulder in school history.

The Buffs continue the Jerry Quiller Classic tomorrow with events beginning at 11 a.m.
