Relays Wrap Up Texas Relays With Third-Place FInishes

AUSTIN – The Colorado track and field program closed out the 94th annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays here Saturday afternoon with a pair of third-place finishes in the 4x400-meter relay University/College division finals.
 
The men's team finished third in an improved time of 3:06.16 while the women's squad finished third in 3:37.61.
 
The men's relay was first through the first two legs average of 46.3 legs between Tyler Williams and Ian Gilmore. The men dropped to third in the third leg with Garrett Nelson with the baton, then Aaron McCoy closed in a 45.74 second split which was the second-fastest split recorded in the final.
 
The men improved by more than half a second from their prelim time and were just five-hundredths of a second from tying the third-best relay in CU history.
 
The women's relay of Grace Jenkins, Emma Pollak, Jaida Drame and Abbey Glynn finished third, running a little less than a second slower than their prelim time. The team was seventh through first three legs with Jenkins and Pollak averaging 55.3 second splits. Drame brought the stick around in 54.65 seconds, then Glynn made up four spots with a 52.21 split. Her split was the second-fast split of the final.
 
The Buffs are scheduled to separate to three different meets next weekend, the Stanford Invitational, Grand Canyon University Antelope Invitational in Phoenix and the Fum McGraw at CSU.
