SPARKS, Md. – Colorado senior attacker Charlie Rudy helped the CU lacrosse team to a pair of wins last week and for those performances, she has been tabbed the USA Lacrosse Magazine Division I Women's Player of the Week.
Â
Rudy recorded eight goals and two assists in those games in Boulder, which helped Colorado improve to 5-0 on the season.
In the first contest against then-No. 16 Vanderbilt on March 4, Rudy recorded three goals and two assists for five points. She was 1-1 on free-position goals and added two ground balls and one caused turnover as Colorado earned an 18-11 victory over the Commodores.
Â
In the second game of the weekend on March 6 against UC Davis, Rudy again scored five points, but this time it was all goals. She scored four of CU's five goals in the first quarter, putting the Buffs up 5-1 as they went into the second frame against the Aggies. Her fifth goal was in the last minute of the first half, which gave the Buffs a 12-4 advantage at halftime. Rudy was 2-3 on free-position attempts in the game and added one draw control.
Â
With three goals against Vanderbilt and five versus UC Davis, she now has 21 games with three or more goals, which is the fourth-most in school history. She also recorded a man-up goal in each game and now has 13 career man-up goals; one shy of the CU record (14).
Â
Colorado entered the national rankings this week heading into Pac-12 play. CU is 19th in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and is 23rd in the IL Women/IWLCA DI Coaches Poll. The Buffs head out on the road to face No. 17 Southern California on March 11 and Arizona State on March 13.
