BOULDER — Former University of Colorado women's golfer Robyn Choi has earned her LPGA card for 2024 after claiming medalist honors at the 2023 LPGA Q-Series which wrapped up Wednesday at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Ala.
Choi shot 29-under-par over the six-round, 108-hole Q-Series, finishing three strokes ahead of Mao Saigo of Japan and So Mi Lee of South Korea. Choi shot in the 60s in all six rounds including back-to-back 64s in the third and fourth rounds which vaulted her into medalist contention over the final two days.
Choi shot 4-under, 68, in round five but dropped back to second after So Mi Lee carded a 63 to take a two-shot lead into the final day. But Choi stayed steady and shot another 68 in the six round which was good enough to win the title and a $15,000 prize.
The win also gave Choi some redemption from just missing out on receiving her card after a fantastic year on the Epson Tour. Choi made the cut in the last 27 Epson Tour events, including all 21 tournaments in 2023 and tied for 14th at the Epson Tour Championship. She was 12th on the 2023 Epson Tour Official Money List with $92,258 with the top 10 receiving the 2024 LPGA cards, just $3,443 off the cut line.
This will be the second stint on the tour for Choi who earned LPGA stats as a rookie in 2019, playing in 12 events. She has been a regular on the Epson Tour since, earning nearly $245,000 over her five-year professional career. Choi was a first team All-Pac-12 and honorable mention WGCA All-American in 2017-18, helping the Buffaloes to a 19th place national finish in just second NCAA Championship appearance.
Choi will join former Buffalo Jenny Coleman on the LPGA Tour for 2024. Coleman, who set 28 Colorado women's golf records during her time in Boulder from 2010-14, finished seventh on the 2023 Epson Tour Official Money List, earning $106,137 in 22 events.
