Maddie Nolan set for 2023-24 season

BOULDER — Colorado women's basketball dipped into the transfer portal and announced the addition of Michigan transfer Maddie Nolan on Friday.

Nolan completed four years in Ann Arbor and will have one year as a graduate transfer for the Buffs.

"I am extremely excited to add Maddie to our Buff family," head coach JR Payne exclaimed. "She has had a great career at Michigan and I have no doubt that she will finish with a fantastic fifth year here in Boulder."

Nolan, a 5-11 guard, averaged career-highs in points (9.1), assists (2.0) and minutes (32.7) last season for the Wolverines. She posted 18 points in Michigan's first-round NCAA Tournament win over UNLV and played 38 minutes in the Wolverines' second-round loss to the eventual national champion LSU Tigers.

The Zionsville, Ind., native, led UM with 65 3-pointers last season, averaging 2.0 per game. She shot .342% from deep, a number that would have ranked second behind Frida Formann (.393%) for the Buffs last season (Min. 35 3FGM). Nolan started all 33 games and scored in double figures on 12 occasions, including a career-high 22 points at Michigan State (2/5/23). She drained a season-high five 3's three times last season, the last in a 21-point performance at Wisconsin (2/26/23).

"I knew from the first time we spoke that Maddie was everything we were looking for," Payne continued. "She is tough, hard-working, a great teammate and she wants to help us compete for a Pac-12 championship. We can't wait for her to get started."

Nolan totaled 764 total points for Michigan in four seasons. She ranks seventh all-time at UM with 167 3-point field goals. Nolan was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a junior. She hit a career-high seven triples for 21 points at Maryland (1/16/22).

Off the court, she's a two-time CSC Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Nolan will graduate from UM with a degree in sport management.

Nolan graduated from Zionsville H.S. in 2019 as the program's leading scorer (1,361 points). She averaged 21.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game in her junior season. She played in five games as a senior, averaging 13.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game in her return from injury.

Her mother, Kris (Veatch) graduated from New Mexico State and was the program's all-time leading scorer (1,768). She remains fourth all-time in scoring for the Aggies.
